A couple of months ago, we also had a live find of a 56 yr old lady
who had attempted suicide by pills. She was in the woods about two miles from
her vehicle and with a cooperative effort by one of our bloodhounds and my
Bailey, we located her. She was dehydrated, curled up in a fetal position,
lying very still on the edge of the dirt road TO READ FULL ARTICLE CLICK READ MORE IN LOWER CORNER

We were actually startled when
we called out her name from about 20 feet away and she raised her head just
inches off the ground and put it back down. "She's alive!!". She had been
there several days with LEO watching the car but no reports of a missing person
associated with it. Once NCIC connected the car with a missing person, they
called us and we got her in just a few hours.
However, Bailey, my springer, was actually licking her feet as we wrapped her
and called for an ambulance. She was not moving and barely able to speak, but
when I was explaining to her that if she saw a dog, not to be afraid as he was
my search dog. She just whispered, he is licking my feet right now. She had
removed her shoes and socks and her feet were pretty scratched up. This is the
first time he has licked the victim. And we have also found that those near
death often removed their socks and shoes...coats and other clothing regardless
of the weather, alzheimers and non alzheimers. Would love to hear of others who
had their dogs "tend to" the victim when they were injured. Bailey has had
multiple deceased victims, in various stages of decomp, and never approached in
this way. Two weeks ago with a cold case, he located bones but refused to even
"look" at the skull. Indicated on it but deliberately looked the opposite
direction.
