The First 24 hours

THE FIRST 24 to 48 hours of a missing person case are the most crucial. Whether a person is found
alive is most probably during this time period. It is of the utmost importance that family, friends,
and law enforcement and others work together, work fast and do the correct things.

BOY ALIVE GREAT JOB
Posted by sarinfoadmin on Friday, May 08 @ 21:43:04 EDT (407 reads)
IRON COUNTY, Mo. — After 52 hours alone in the woods, 3-year-old Joshua Childers had a simple request for those who rescued him. He wanted a glass of milk.

Iron County Sheriff Allen Mathes was one of the first to see the boy, who was wearing just a T-shirt and one shoe when he was found Wednesday afternoon by volunteers.

"We asked him where he'd been, and he said he'd been on a hike," Mathes said.

The boy had been missing since midday Monday, when he walked away from home just off a dirt road near the line between Madison and Iron counties.

MAN FOUND AFTER 30 YEARS
Posted by sarinfoadmin on Wednesday, May 06 @ 00:26:39 EDT (584 reads)
A skeleton of a German man who shot and killed himself in a tree has been found by a hiker – nearly 30 years later.

Police said the 69-year-old retiree who had been missing since 1980 tied himself to the tree before firing the gun, Reuters reported.

His remains were discovered after an 18-year-old hiker found a bone in the forest last week and brought it to police, who then searched the area, Reuters reported.

"We found the skeleton up in the tree with the pistol hanging on a rope next to it," police spokesman Leonard Mayer was quoted as saying.

The body was identified through DNA testing and an artificial hip, Reuters reported.

After five days of staring into the Mount Adams wilderness, looking for a sign of hope but fearing there was none, Sophia Mamoyac found out Friday afternoon her vanished brother was alive.

Derek Mamoyac, 27, of Philomath was reported missing Monday when he didn't return from what was supposed to be a one-day climbing trip on 12,277-foot-tall Mount Adams, the second-tallest mountain in Washington. Sorry this is long. I tried to be as brief as possible.

Attached is a map showing portions of the search (click Image and Fill
Screen). Map is just a piece of the overall search.

Early in November, 2004, a man went missing after being served divorce
papers. He left his keys, paychecks, wallet, credit cards, etc. on the
kitchen table and took a .41 caliber revolver from the gun collection. URL: http://www.sar-info.com/LIVINGSTONDRAW.jpg  TO READ FULL ARTICLE CLICK ON READ MORE IN LOWER CORNER

AMANDA TRUSCOTT

From Tuesday's Globe and Mail

December 23, 2008 at 4:00 AM EST

It almost ended up being a Christmas marred by tragedy for the Molnar family, but thanks to the keen nose of a dog named Ace, there is cause for celebration.

Seventy-two hours after Donna Molnar left her Ontario home to buy baking supplies, the 55-year-old wife and mother was found alive but barely conscious under 60 centimetres of snow.

At 12:30 yesterday afternoon, in a field near a farmers market on the outskirts of Ancaster, a town about 75 kilometres west of Toronto, Ray Lau and his Dutch shepherd were part of a search team scouring the undulating snowdrifts for signs of life. Suddenly, the dog smelled something, and ran about 15 metres to a depression in the snow. He stared into it, barking furiously.TO  READ FULL ARTICLE CLICK READ MORE IN LOWER CORNER
