The First 24 hours

THE FIRST 24 to 48 hours of a missing person case are the most crucial. Whether a person is found
alive is most probably during this time period. It is of the utmost importance that family, friends,
and law enforcement and others work together, work fast and do the correct things.

MAN FOUND IN TREE 30 YEARS LATER

German Man's Skeleton Found in Tree Nearly 30 Years After His Suicide Wednesday, April 08, 2009

A skeleton of a German man who shot and killed himself in a tree has been found by a hiker – nearly 30 years later.

Police said the 69-year-old retiree who had been missing since 1980 tied himself to the tree before firing the gun, Reuters reported.

His remains were discovered after an 18-year-old hiker found a bone in the forest last week and brought it to police, who then searched the area, Reuters reported.

"We found the skeleton up in the tree with the pistol hanging on a rope next to it," police spokesman Leonard Mayer was quoted as saying.

The body was identified through DNA testing and an artificial hip, Reuters reported.

After five days of staring into the Mount Adams wilderness, looking for a sign of hope but fearing there was none, Sophia Mamoyac found out Friday afternoon her vanished brother was alive.

Derek Mamoyac, 27, of Philomath was reported missing Monday when he didn't return from what was supposed to be a one-day climbing trip on 12,277-foot-tall Mount Adams, the second-tallest mountain in Washington. Searchers had been combing the flanks of the mountain ever since. TO READ FULL ARTICLE CLICK READ MORE IN LOWER CORNER

A couple of months ago, we also had a live find of a 56 yr old lady
who had attempted suicide by pills. She was in the woods about two miles from
her vehicle and with a cooperative effort by one of our bloodhounds and my
Bailey, we located her. She was dehydrated, curled up in a fetal position,
lying very still on the edge of the dirt road TO READ FULL ARTICLE  CLICK READ MORE IN LOWER CORNER

Posted by sarinfoadmin on Sunday, September 20 @ 22:05:50 EDT (3009 reads)
I am writing to let you know of a great day Saber and I had on Wednesday 8/30/06. We were called out to an area for a missing man of 8 days. Police originally checked the area and were unable to locate the missing man. When I brought Saber to the area, he was pulling towards the wooded area behind the house where the man lived. I paced Saber, on lead, back in fourth through the backyard along the wood line for him to pick up the strongest scent path. TO SEE THE FULL ARTICLE CLICK READ MORE IN LOWER CORNER
